Game Paradise Store Update #2

Many many people have been asking how things are progressing with the stores opening, so I thought I should address you all at once!

Gen Con has left us with a lot of prospects that we are following up on.  We met so many great little game companies, and being able to carry as many of their products as we can is something that we are currently pursuing.  This of course means lots of research and phone calls.  We hope that this extra leg work will pay off though, in both building relationships with designers and companies but also in having the most unique selection of products in the Indianapolis area.

Other than digging through the piles of Gen Con business cards, we are also spending a little extra time putting some polish on our business plan. This is, after all, how we are selling our ideas to financial institutions and we want to be as prepared as possible.  We had a goal of beginning the search for capital immediately after Gen Con, but due to issues both business and personal that still hasn’t occurred yet, but hope it will within the next couple of weeks.

In other exciting news, despite space restrictions, the library continues to grow.  It kinda reminds me of the Blob.  Every time I take a look, it is bigger than the last time, despite not really aggressively attempting to grow it.  We are now up to 602 items, and that is before the 150 or so items still to be added (which was discussed in the last update).  We originally wanted to have 400 games by opening day.  Boy did we out do ourselves there.  Although, I have to say a big thank you to all of our friends who have donated games, you guys are awesome.

Not quite as exciting, but still very important, our POS system and website have come along quite nicely.  And while they will never be ‘done’, they are both looking pretty darn good.  I have to take a moment to say thank you to a good friend of mine who is a PHP God, this place would not be nearly as tidy without you. 🙂

So where does all of this leave us?  We are chugging along steadily.  We couldn’t have gotten this far without all the loving support, and we thank you so greatly for that.  Hopefully in the coming months all of the hard work will pay off with a big opening day celebration.
